The Sizing Balloon is a 7 Fr double lumen catheter made of PVC. The balloon-carrying segment is angled 45 degree to the shaft to provide a right-angled position in relation to the atrial septum. Radiopaque markers at 10mm, 5mm and 2mm intervals allow for radiographic measurement. It is designed to measure cardiovascular structures such as the diameter of a ASD. Sizing can be accomplished in three ways: radiographic, ultrasonographic or with the use of a sizing plate. In clinical practice only one or two sizing methods may suffice.
